Sura Hashr is the first sura of the Qur'an and one of the most important. The word is derived from the word "hashr" which means to erase or blot out. The story of the sura begins with the prophet Muhammad and the people of the Book. They are in dispute with one another. The prophet Muhammad wants to establish the religion of God and the people of the Book want to preserve their religion. The dispute is about the truth and the messenger of God wants to be clear about the religion. The people of the Book say that the prophet Muhammad is the messenger of God while the prophet Muhammad says that he is the messenger of God.
